This game was very reminiscent of the start of season games against Astra in the last couple of seasons
Overwhelmed by crap opposition, physically out of shape, defensively shambolic, disorganised, indisciplined and blaming the ref for everything
I expect a similar season to the one under Bilic. We'll be easy pickings for the big clubs and most of the moderate clubs will fancy their chances of taking points off us
We haven't really dominated the midfield since Bilic took over

I'd much rather these more local matches than trips to Oz, USA, New Zealand or China which are all commercial trips and extremely tiring.
I've no problem with the friendlies arranged, just the lack of improvement shown in them.

I think most clubs preseason schedule has the marketing department overriding the managers.
No manager would want to go to China or America if they didn't have to.
To me an ideal schedule would be a couple of fitness weeks in Austria or somewhere with some gentle games against locals.
Then home and a couple of weeks proper training and some games against half decent opponents with some extra games against lower league teams to give fringe players more time.

No thought gone into our pre season obviously.
Flying out to Germany and Austria and playing on bad pitches us foolish!
To then travel to Iceland for our last if only a few pre season games is pointless.
They could have achieved more at less cost to the club and the environment by staying at home and playing more realistic friendlies.
As it stands most of the first team have not played enough minutes and have not played together either.
Pretty sure we are going into another season undercooked, the fools just don't learn.

I think it was more so that they thought the ref was a massive attention seeking cunt for sending Reid off. The ref refused their request.

We aren't in the group playing big European teams .... I see Liverpool were playing Bayern ... and I don't really think that would be the best preparation
That said we are off to Iceland to visit the country that almost finished the club and get beaten by Man City.
Personally after a training week in Germany and a couple of games v Werder Bremen I'd have had them back for training at home and maybe a trip up the road to play Norwich or Ipswich or such like.

Read a report which said that Altona had apparently asked the referee if they could play with 10 in the second half as a way of evening things up.
Thought that was really sporting of them.

The commentators, like some on here, seem to think the ref should have been more lenient as it was only a friendly, which has some merit as an argument, but not as much merit as Reid should not have got him self in sucj a tizzy, seeing as it was only a friendly, and not even half way through.
Piss poor captain on this occasion. At least it lead to a tougher work out in the second half than we would have had with all 11 on the pitch.

What about 1st team players like Antonio; Lanzini; Sakho; Noble; Carroll; Hart; Chicarito; Kouyate and anyone else that comes in to replace the likes of Feghouli and Snodgarss etc.?
